Sleeve Notes

The Sands Family come from Mayobridge a little village in the heart of the Mourne Mountains. Not surprisingly, a lot of the songs on this album are from the Mourne country. "Rathfriland on the Hill", "Maid of Ballydoo" and "Mourne Maggie" are a few of the titles from that area included on this album.

The Sands Family have "come on" both in years and experience since this recording was made (in the days when they were all school children) but if they have, they still include in their repertoire children's play songs—a typical medley of which is included on this album. These songs—learned as children in their little Mourne village—now delight thousands of people in live audiences all over Ireland, the U.S. and Canada—where they have travelled extensively.

We feel that this album will delight those same thousands and bring a new following to these five children who have grown into a very talented, unique folk from the Mournes.
