For many years now Alex Campbell has been probably the best loved, most booked, most warmly applauded, laughed with and longed for performer on the British folk club circuit and this sampler LP is truly a cross section of the material that has made him so popular with audiences throughout the country. It ranges from the touching Woodie Guthrie ballad "Plane Wreck at Los Gatos", takes in two of Alex's own compositions, both firm favourites in British folk clubs. "Been On The Road So Long" and "My Old Gibson Guitar", to the traditional Scots songs that Alex puts over so well in his inimitable style.
Folk audiences are fickle like any other audience, but no performer has been so consistently in demand in British clubs throughout the 1960s and this record is sure to be a treasured possession of his many fans.
