Sleeve Notes

The Irish people have many contributions to the cultural heritage of the British Isles but none greater than their composing and singing of Irish folk songs. In England, however, it is only recently that the Irish folk song has become a commercial and popular proposition and this success owes much to the many Irish folk groups and show bands that are now performing in the London area.

On this record many of the best-known Irish folk tunes are sung with the appropriate gaiety and at times even abandon. The Halliard are three in number. Dave Moran, lead singer, Nick Jones and Nigel Pattison, both of whom play guitars and perform throughout the country singing all types of folk songs, both Irish and English.

Their natural gaiety and spontaneous humour blends appropriately with the TraditionaL airs of these Irish songs and from the moment you put this record on, you will catch a whiff of the Guiness and a hint of the Blarney.
