    • Rory (1932-1982) and Alex McEwen (1935-2009) were the fourth and fifth (respectively) of seven children of Sir John Helias Finnie McEwen and Lady Bridget Mary McEwen.
    • Both served as officers in the Cameron Highlanders before embarking on their careers in Folk Music.
    • In 1956, Rory and Alex traveled to the USA, were they recorded 2 albums for Folkways and appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show.
    • Returning to Britain, their musical career flourished with countless live concert and television appearances.
    • Billy Connolly, Van Morrison and Eric Burdon of the Animals are just are a few names to site the influence Rory and Alex.
    • Around 1964, both Rory and Alex left music
      • Rory to pursue a career as a respected artist.
      • Alex became an executive, and the 6th Laird of Bardrochat in Carrick.
