Sleeve Notes

image This record is the product of diligent research by teams of unpaid volunteers who without thought to their moral or physical welfare toured the pubs of Ireland to find out what songs were lifting the roofs at closing time. Although many of these brave researchers were never seen again, enough information reached us to enable us to produce this, the definitive Irish drinking record. Just one look at the titles will convince you that every song that has ever roused the drinking public is included. The Jolly Beggarman, who, with the help of their many friends sing the songs on this album, are already deservedly famous for their rousing on-stage performance, a performance which is successfully captured on this record.

image You're holding in your hands the album they said couldn't be made, Volume 2 of "20 Great Irish Drinking Songs". Unsuspecting record buyers all over the country were driven to inflict personal injury on their own vocal chords by the sheer infectious-ness of Volume 1, and you could be running the same risk with this, the latest collection from the talented Jolly Beggarmen. With songs ranging from the rousing "On The One Road" and "Rocky Road To Dublin", to the haunting "Rare Oul' Times" and "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda". An evening with these four talented musicians and their friends is an intoxicating experience.

Sleeve Notes

As a musician and record producer, I am delighted to have been invited to write something here on the Jolly Beggarmen. Having worked with the boys in the studio and seen many of their live performances, I know well the high standards of which they are capable. These songs not only contain their enthusiasm and sheer love of the music but they show a dexterity of musicianship which is as delightful to behold as it is rare. I wish them continued success and invite you to join in the musical experience that is the Jolly Beggarmen.
