History

  • A brief history
    • Emmet Spiceland was a combination of two bands playing in Dublin in the mid 1960s
    • When Mick Moloney left Emmet Folk to join the Johnstons, the two bands merged.
    • Brian Bolger left the band in December 1967 and appears on no group recordings.
    • Dónal Lunny left the group during the first half of 1969.
    • He was replaced by 19 year old Leo O'Kelly.
      • O'Kelly made no recordings with the band.
    • Michael Byrne left the band in September 1969.
    • Lunny rejoined for a tour of the United States, which proved to be the band's last.
    • Shortly after Emmet Spiceland disbanded.
    • In 1973, Brian Byrne briefly "re-formed" Emmet Spiceland, with Honor Heffernan, Paul Ashford and Dave Murphy
